The Mekuti Calming Band

The  Calming Band is for outdoor and indoor use but is particularly useful on holiday when we are in strange and unfamiliar surroundings.

With our Mutley, it helps to reduce excessive barking and stress by making gentle contact around the muzzle without actually restricting any movement, which means he is still able to drink, eat and pant.

It has a noticeable calming effect and is perfect for journeys, on walks or just sitting outside a pub especially when other dogs are around.

It’s most noticeable and really useful effect is stopping him from going ‘into the zone’ where nothing at all gets in and we can’t get his attention.

We also use it with Meg when we get visitors to the house, again it helps her to avoid getting into the zone and helps her calm down much easier with a lot less barking on the way.

Got to be honest, it’s not their most favourite thing in the world and they sometimes try and rub it off so sometimes loosening it a slight amount, a few warm encouraging words and a gentle stroke helps.

    • Hi Mary,

The calming Band isn’t suitable for every dog which is why we allow a 30 Day trial period for you to find out if it is the right thing in your situation.

From what you describe it sounds like in your dog’s case the calming band may cause more distress and maybe a T-Shirt would give the results you are wanting.

  1. I have a two year old ‘rescue’ terrier who was never socialised or taken out for walks for the whole of his two years. Consequently, despite being very sweet natured he barks and gets very excited when he sees other dogs. I really want to be able to take him on days out etc without having to worry about him barking incessantly at other dogs. Your balance harness has helped a lot in teaching him to walk on a loose lead, and I no longer worry about him wriggling out of his harness like he did with his old one. This is great as it’s reduced my own anxiety and given me confidence so I don’t feel I’m passing on any negative vibes to him now. However, although I have used the calming band on him several times it does not stop him barking and I’m wondering if I have it fitted correctly. I purchased the small size after measuring his head as per directions, and the result was 19 inches. I am able to put my thumb between his head and the webbing – do I need to have it a bit tighter perhaps?
